Immediately after a chemical peel treatment, the skin may be red and tender. It is not recommended to cover it with make-up for 24 hours. It is recommended to avoid sun exposure for a few days after the treatment. It is advisable to use extra protection in the form of creams with a high SPF over 30. It is also not advisable to use swimming pools and saunas soon after the treatment. The high concentration of chlorine in swimming pool water can be irritating to the skin. The high temperature of the sauna increases water loss from the body. The skin should be especially moisturised after a chemical peel. It is recommended to use cosmetics based on soothing and moisturising substances: hyaluronic acid, collagen, Panthenol or allantoin. Under no circumstances should you pluck or scratch the scaly skin. This can lead to scarring or discolouration. After the procedure, your doctor will provide you with detailed information and instruct you on the recommendations in response to the preparations that have been applied to your case.
