First effects of laser treatment of vascular lesions are usually visible a few days after the treatment. In some patients, the lesions start to fade after just a few hours, but the full effect is visible after about 2-4 weeks, when the capillaries have completely absorbed.

Depending on the size and type of vasculature, a series of treatments may be necessary to achieve an optimal result.

Preparation for laser treatment includes avoiding tanning and self-tanning products for at least 4 weeks prior to treatment. The skin should be clean, without make-up or moisturisers. Approximately one week before the treatment, you should stop using cosmetics with retinol, fruit acids and photosensitizers.

Before the procedure, it is a good idea to inform the doctor of any medication you are taking, especially those affecting blood clotting.

Laser vascular treatment is usually not very painful, although the sensations during the treatment are individual. Patients most often describe it as a slight burning or pinching sensation, comparable to shooting a rubber band on the skin.

For added comfort, prior to treatment local anaesthesia may be used in the form of a cream. After treatment, mild redness or swelling is possible, which quickly subsides.

Laser vessel sealing is a safe and effective treatment, but there are several contraindications that may prevent it from being performed.

  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding
  • Active skin infections (e.g. herpes)
  • Fresh tan or use of self-tanners
  • Chronic diseases such as diabetes (unregulated), blood clotting disorders, cancer
  • Use of photosensitizing drugs or supplements with photosensitizing effects
  • A tendency to scarring

A detailed consultation with a doctor is always carried out before the procedure to assess the patient's health and rule out any contraindications.

The number of treatments needed to achieve optimal results from laser vascular closure depends on a number of factors, such as:

  • the extent and depth of blood vessels,
  • individual skin response to treatment,

In most cases, patients may notice an improvement after the first treatment, but a series of 2 to 4 sessions is often needed for full, long-lasting effect.

For small vascular lesions, such as spider veins on the face, one or two treatments may be sufficient. The interval between treatments is usually between 4 and 6 weeks, allowing the skin to recover and assess the progress of the treatment. After this time, the doctor assesses whether the treatment should be repeated. Sometimes it is possible to achieve the desired effect after a single session, but in most cases a multi-step approach guarantees the best results.

It should also be borne in mind that the effects of laser vessel sealing are long-lasting, but it cannot be ruled out that new capillaries will appear in przyszłości, especially in people who are prone to their formation. Further treatments may then be necessary. It is advisable to regularly check the condition of the skin and, if necessary, take measures to prevent recurrence.
