Atopic dermatitis, also known as AD or eczema, is a chronic inflammatory skin disease with a genetic basis. Both genetic and environmental and immunological factors are involved in the development of the condition. For symptoms to appear, the presence of specific environmental factors is necessary, e.g. the consumption of food that is a source of allergens that initiate skin lesions. AD is also influenced by stress in everyday life, so patients affected by this condition should avoid stress.
