Mature scars

Mature scars arise as a result of the normal wound healing process and are usually unobtrusive. They are flat with a lighter shade than the skin and are soft and flexible. If the scar is in a visible area, it can be removed with the FOTONA laser. Its light penetrates deep into the skin, damaging collagen cells and, as a result, stimulating them to production of new collagen.

Mature scars - causes

There are various reasons mature scars - may follow mechanical, chemical or thermal trauma (e.g. burns). They are often the result of past surgical operations. In some patients, we can speak of a genetically determined tendency to scarring. 

Mature scars - symptoms

These types of lesions have a light tint, close to skin tone (They are usually slightly lighter). The scars are soft, flexible and quite smooth to the touch. They do not usually cause discomfort, pain or tightening sensations. They are also not reddened (unlike immature scars).

Treatments for mature scars

The aesthetic medicine market offers many treatments for scarswhich reduce the visibility of these types of lesions on the body and face. Among them we find:

• dermabrasion, microdermabrasion,
• chemical peelings,
• laser treatments. 

Dermabrasion and microdermabrasion are most commonly used to remove scars on the face. Dermabrasion is the mechanical abrasion of the epidermis. It is not very effective and carries risks. The treatment abrades the skin into the blood and the wound healing time is very long. Microdemabrasion is a gentle form of dermabrasion. It does not produce satisfactory results because the lesion is not very large.

Chemical peelings and mechanical 1TP4Exfoliating the epidermis, like the previously mentioned treatments, works on scars, but can have an invasive effect on the balance of the skin.

Laser removal of mature scars
