Menopause, commonly referred to as menopause, is a time when a woman's body undergoes a series of changes resulting in the end of fertility. The changes accompanying the menopause mainly include the cessation of ovarian synthesis of oestrogen and progesterone. These changes can result in dysregulation of the autonomic nervous system, changes in the emotional sphere and, in later life, osteoporosis. It occurs on average at the age of 45-55 years and lasts about 1-2 years.
