It is worth remembering that some sexually transmitted infections may be asymptomatic, so the absence of symptoms does not always mean there is no infection.
Tests can detect certain infections and determine whether further diagnosis or treatment is required. If the results are abnormal, your doctor may recommend further tests.

As part of a more comprehensive screening programme, it is also worth having comprehensive health assessments for women and appropriately selected screening tests. Regular health check-ups enable any potential abnormalities to be detected more quickly, even when they do not yet cause any obvious symptoms.
