Endometriosis excision scar - how to remove it effectively?

Endometriosis excision scar - how is it removed?

Endometriosis is a chronic condition in which endometrium-like tissue (endometrium) grows outside the uterine cavity. It can occur in the ovaries, peritoneum, gastrointestinal tract or urinary tract, or even in surgical scars - including those from caesarean sections. A complication of this situation can be not only pain, but also the formation of visible and painful thickening within the scar....

The most common symptoms include:

  • thickening within the scar (perceptible under the skin)
  • increasing pain during menstruation

Over time, symptoms may worsen and significantly affect the patient's quality of life.

How is endometriosis diagnosed in the scar?

Several methods are used for diagnosis:

  • Ultrasound of the abdominal integuments and reproductive organs - basic imaging examination
  • Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) or computed tomography (CT) - in more difficult cases where precise localisation of lesions is required
  • Medical history and palpation - particularly important when assessing pain.

A definitive diagnosis is usually only confirmed after surgical removal of the lesion and histopathological analysis.

Treatment - how is scar endometriosis removed?

The most effective method is a surgical procedure - either classic or laparoscopic - involving the excision of the affected tissue along with a margin of healthy tissue. The procedure is performed in a hospital setting. Once completed, a new surgical scar is created.

C-section scar removal - how to care for the scar after endometriosis excision?

After the treatment, the following are recommended:

  • appropriate wound care (as prescribed by the doctor)
  • avoiding physical exertion and stretching of the skin in the area of the scar
  • regular medical check-ups
  • use of silicone ointments or silicone dressings to promote healing.

Laser scar removal after surgery - modern methods of removing surgical scars

Endometriosis in the caesarean section scar is a real health problem that can cause severe pain. Surgical treatment can permanently remove the focus of the disease. If the scar is particularly prominent, unsightly or causing discomfort, combination therapy may be considered. One of the methods available is laser therapy.

Treatment of endometriosis in the caesarean scar at Wellclinic

Surgical removal of endometriosis in the scar is an invasive procedure with the risk of complications such as infections, bleeding, damage to neighbouring organs or the formation of new, often painful adhesions and scars. Also, recovery after surgery is longer and requires general anaesthesia and hospitalisation. In addition, there is always the risk that not all foci of endometriosis will be removed, which can lead to recurrence of the complaints.

How to effectively get rid of an endometrial excision scar? At WellClinic we offer a laser protocol removal of scars on the body using the Fotona Dynamis SP Pro platform. It uses er:YAG laser light to penetrate the skin and stimulate the production of new collagen. As a result:

  • the scar becomes less visible after just a few sessions
  • the skin at the treatment site becomes smoother and more elastic
  • the risk of adhesion formation is reduced.

The treatment is safe and well tolerated, but the decision to perform it should be consulted with your general practitioner. Discover if our personalised therapy at WellClinic Medical Clinic is right for you!
