Blepharoplasty

Blepharoplasty is an aesthetic medicine procedure that involves the correction of the upper and lower eyelids. It is carried out for aesthetic as well as health reasons in patients of all ages. The most common patients are mature people, over 45 years of age, although not exclusively.

Blepharoplasty - characteristics 

Blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure to correct the upper and lower eyelids. Depending on the case in question, the procedure takes between 1 and 2 hours. 

During eyelid plastics surgeon removes excess loose skin restoring the patient's functional comfort. It is usually carried out under local anaesthesia. The treatment reduces effects of skin ageing and improves the inherent anatomical shape of the eye, such as a drooping eyelid.

Blepharoplasty - indications

Here are the basic indications for eyelid blepharoplasty:

• excess skin in the eyelid area,
• flaccidity of the tissue around the eyes,
• drooping eyelid,
• limited field of vision,
• visible asymmetry of the eyes.

The procedure is preceded by a qualifying visit during which the doctor discusses with the patient the indications and contraindications and presents the course of eyelid plasty.

Blepharoplasty - effects

The procedure results in rejuvenating the look. The eye is more open and the face appears younger and more rested. Removal of fatty hernias makes the patient look vital and fresh. Elimination of excess skin that obscures the pupil affects not only the appearance but also the comfort of daily life.
