Wrinkles These are depressions and deformities of the skin’s surface which, depending on their depth, take the form of lines, furrows or folds. They are caused by the natural ageing process and external factors. They are one of the most visible signs of ageing skin and are most commonly found on the face, neck, décolletage and hands.
Wrinkles appear, amongst other things, as a result of the gradual loss of the skin’s essential building blocks, such as collagen, elastin i hyaluronic acid, which are responsible for its firmness, elasticity and proper moisture levels.
The most common causes of wrinkles These include the skin’s ageing process, repetitive facial muscle movements, excessive exposure to UV radiation, a reduction in hyaluronic acid levels, environmental pollution, stress, lack of sleep, smoking and an unhealthy diet. UV radiation plays a particularly significant role in the process of photoageing, as it accelerates the breakdown of collagen and elastin fibres.
Depending on the mechanism of formation, the following are distinguished, amongst others: facial wrinkles, gravitational, static, structural, sun-induced and sleep-related. Characteristic changes also include crow’s feet, the lion’s wrinkle, forehead wrinkles and marionette lines, that is, the lines running from the corners of the mouth towards the chin.
Modern dermatology and aesthetic medicine offer a range of methods removal of wrinkles and to improve skin quality. Depending on the type and depth of the lesions, treatments are used which stimulate the production of collagen and elastin, such as microneedle radiofrequency or HIFU, as well as therapies involving the use of hyaluronic acid. Botulinum toxin is also used to treat expression lines.
Laser treatments are also used to reduce the signs of skin ageing skin rejuvenation, needle mesotherapy and platelet-rich plasma (PRP). Choosing the right method depends on individual needs, skin condition, the type of wrinkles and the desired results. A suitably chosen treatment can help smooth out wrinkles, improve skin firmness and restore its more rested appearance.
