Traumatic scars are otherwise known as post-accident scars. Damage to the skin caused by a sudden event: a cut, a bite or a burn fills with new layers of collagen during the healing process. In their place, fibrous tissue is formed, which stands out against healthy skin, e.g. in colour and texture. Visible post-traumatic scars can cause not only aesthetic discomfort, but also an unpleasant "pulling" sensation during everyday activities. Fresh scars are the easiest to treat. Their visibility can even be reduced with the help of specialised preparations. Removal of mature scars may require advanced laser technology.
