Menopause, commonly referred to as menopause, is a time when a woman's body undergoes a series of changes resulting in the end of fertility. The changes accompanying menopause primarily include the cessation of ovarian synthesis of oestrogen and progesterone.
The result of these changes can be dysregulation of the autonomic nervous system, changes in the emotional sphere and, in later life, osteoporosis. It occurs on average at the age of 45-55 years and lasts about 1-2 years.
