Post-traumatic scars This is also known as post-accident scarring. Damage to the skin caused by a sudden event: a cut, bite or burn during the healing process is filled with new layers of collagen. In their place, fibrous tissue is formed, which stands out against healthy skin, e.g. in colour and texture. Visible post-traumatic scars can cause not only aesthetic discomfort, but also an unpleasant 'pulling' sensation during everyday activities.
Fresh scars are the easiest to treat. Their visibility can even be reduced with specialised preparations. Removal of mature scars may require advanced laser technology.
