Cosmetology is a branch of dermatology based on the care and treatment of skin, hair and nails affected by illnesses or ailments of various kinds. Cosmetologists deal with problems such as acne, ingrown hairs or weakening of the nail plate.
Cosmetology is not directly related to medicine - those working in its field do not need to complete a medical degree and therefore are not medics and cannot provide health services.
