Modelling of the mandible This is a facial contouring procedure designed to improve the contours of the lower face. Facial volumetrics This includes, amongst other things, contouring the lower jaw, chin and other areas of the face. The treatment usually involves the injection of a dermal filler, e.g. hyaluronic acid, in carefully selected areas of the lower jaw. It can help to emphasise facial features, improve facial proportions and restore a more defined contour. With age, changes occur in tissue structure, leading to a loss of volume and a reduction in the definition of the jawline. Depending on individual needs, it is also possible to correct the proportions of the chin, improve the oval of the face and achieve a more harmonious appearance.

Hyaluronic acid is injected under the skin using a needle or a cannula, which is a blunt-tipped instrument used for the precise delivery of the product into the tissues. The method of performing the procedure is tailored to the area being treated and the patient’s individual anatomical conditions. In the case of simultaneous chin correction, it is also possible to use techniques employed during chin volumetry.

Modelling of the mandible helps to emphasise the jawline and improve facial contours. The results are partially visible immediately after the treatment; however, there may initially be some swelling, which makes it difficult to assess the final outcome. The full result is usually assessed once any post-treatment reactions have subsided, most commonly after around 2 weeks. Depending on the product used and individual physiological characteristics, the effect lasts for a specific period and may require the treatment to be repeated periodically.
