Dermatophytosis

Dermatophytosis, i.e. a fungal skin infection, is a group of diseases caused by various species of fungi. Dermatophytoses include infections caused by dermatophytes, which can affect, amongst other areas, the smooth skin, feet, hands, groin, scalp, chin and nails.

Symptoms skin fungal infection depend on the site and type of infection. In the case of a fungal infection of the smooth skin, the following may occur round or oval, reddened and scaly lesions with a clearly defined border. The lesions may gradually expand outwards, whilst the centre is often less pronounced.

The diagnosis of a fungal infection is based on an assessment of the skin lesions and, if necessary, a mycological examination. Treatment depends on the type of infection, its location and how widespread it is. If you suspect a fungal infection, it is advisable to consult a a dermatologist.
