Psoriasis is a skin disease whose origin may be chronic or inflammatory. Its main symptom is excessive keratinisation of the epidermis, i.e. flaking and falling off of patches of skin. The characteristic areas of psoriasis vulgaris are the knees, elbows and scalp.
The cause of the disease is most often genetic, but the cause is also attributed to immunological problems.
