Laser ablation

Laser ablation is a procedure that uses a concentrated beam of light to remove the superficial layers of the skin in a controlled manner. It is primarily used in dermatology and aesthetic medicine, including for the reduction of wrinkles, discolouration and other skin imperfections.

During laser ablation The laser energy causes specific layers of the skin to evaporate or sustain controlled damage. This triggers natural regenerative processes and tissue remodelling, including the production of new collagen fibres. The depth of action depends on the type of laser used and the treatment parameters; therefore, the extent of regeneration and the healing time may vary.

It stands out fractional ablation and complete ablation. With the fractional method, the laser targets the skin in small spots, creating micro-lesions surrounded by undamaged areas. This promotes faster regeneration. Full ablation, on the other hand, covers the entire area being treated and may involve a longer healing period.
