Laser therapy This is a method used in aesthetic medicine, dermatology and cosmetology, which utilises laser light energy to exert a controlled effect on selected structures of the skin and tissues. Depending on the type of laser used and the treatment parameters, the beam can target, amongst other things, the skin’s surface, blood vessels, pigmentation, hair or deeper tissues.
Laser treatments can be used to improve the quality and appearance of the skin, reduce scars, wrinkles and discolouration, and as part of skin rejuvenation therapies. One of the technologies used is fractional laser, which creates micro-injuries in the skin, stimulating its natural regeneration and remodelling processes. Depending on the indications, ablative lasers are also used, such as Er:YAG laser, and devices utilising the Nd:YAG wavelength, such as Nd:YAG laser.
Laser therapy is also used in treatments to improve facial contours and appearance, as well as in scar treatments. Depending on the indication, it can be used to cause controlled damage to selected layers of the skin, that is to say laser ablation, or to target deeper structures without damaging the skin’s surface.
In the field of aesthetic medicine, various laser platforms are used, the settings of which are tailored to the skin type, the treatment area and the desired results. An example is Fotona Dynamis SP, used in treatments for various aesthetic and dermatological conditions. Laser hair removal treatments, on the other hand, utilise solutions that employ appropriately selected wavelengths, such as Prime 3D laser.
The safety and effectiveness of laser therapy depend, amongst other things, on the correct choice of device, the treatment parameters and the experience of the person performing the procedure. A consultation is carried out prior to the treatment, during which the condition of the skin, the indications and any possible contraindications are assessed. Depending on the type of procedure, it may also be necessary to prepare the skin appropriately and to follow the recommendations for aftercare.
