Pimples on the face This is a common skin problem that can have various causes. Lesions may appear, amongst other things, as part of acne, due to hormonal changes, excessive sebum production, skin irritation or an unsuitable skincare routine. Depending on the cause, they may take the form of papules, pustules, blackheads or other inflammatory lesions. They most commonly occur on the face, but may also appear on the back, chest or décolletage.

Minor changes may resemble pimples, whilst in cases of severe inflammation, painful, red pustules and papules appear, sometimes filled with pus. Improperly squeezing these lesions may increase the risk of hyperpigmentation and acne scars.
What helps with spots on the face? The key is a carefully selected skincare routine that includes gentle cleansing, moisturising and sun protection. Skincare products should be tailored to your skin type and needs. For skin prone to breakouts, it is best to avoid products that cause irritation or place an excessive burden on the skin. Lifestyle and diet may also play a role, although the impact of diet on acne varies from person to person.
If home care does not bring about any improvement and the symptoms persist or worsen, it is worth consulting a a dermatologist. Depending on the cause, the doctor may recommend topical or systemic treatment. Retinoids, amongst other things, are used to treat certain forms of acne. Products containing retinol, the use of which should be tailored to the skin’s needs and tolerance.
Professional treatment methods can also be used to treat acne lesions. Acne removal may include appropriately selected procedures, such as certain chemical peels and laser therapy. The type of treatment and the number of sessions depend on the nature of the skin changes, their severity and the individual condition of the skin.
