Slimming the face – how can you make your face appear slimmer?

Facial slimming

A slim figure doesn’t always mean a slender face. You might lose a few kilograms, yet still feel that your face is too full, your cheeks are too round, and oval face remains unclear. The problem is therefore not always down to being overweight.

What you see in the mirror may be the result of several different factors – including bone structure, the distribution of body fat, muscle mass, skin tone and natural changes that occur with age. Water retention and a tendency to swell can also affect the appearance of your face. That is why losing weight alone does not always result in a slimmer figure.

If you want a more defined face shape, it’s worth first determining, which makes the face look fuller. Only then can you make an informed choice about how to proceed – from changing your daily habits to carefully selecting aesthetic medicine treatments.

What influences the shape of the face?

Shape and facial proportions are largely determined by individual factors. Among other things, the structure of the upper and lower jaws, the amount of body fat, and the size and activity of the muscles all play a role.

Over time, the appearance of the face may change. The skin loses its firmness, and the distribution of body fat, and the tissues gradually shift under the influence of gravity. As a result, jawline it may be less pronounced, and the lower part of the face may appear heavier.

However, a fuller oval face is not always associated with excess body fat. In some people, the wider appearance of the lower part of the face is due to well-developed masseter muscles. Another possible cause may be localised fat deposits, for example in the area of chin.

Therefore facial slimming It should begin by identifying the cause, rather than by choosing a specific treatment.

Facial slimming versus contouring

It is not always necessary to reduce the volume of the face to make it look slimmer. Sometimes, improving the proportions between different areas gives a better result.

Facial modelling may include, amongst other things, highlighting the cheekbones, chin or jawline. The right proportions between the different parts of the face can make the face shape appear more defined and slimmer.

An example of such conduct is facial volumetrics. The treatment is not intended to reduce body fat, but can be used to restore or enhance volume in specific areas. When properly planned facial modelling Among other things, it helps to improve the contours and restore more harmonious proportions.

When it comes to the face, maintaining the right proportions is particularly important. Reducing volume too much does not always improve the appearance of the facial contours – it may even make the features appear too sharp or make the face look more tired.

Does hyaluronic acid make your face look slimmer?

Hyaluronic acid It does not reduce body fat, so it is not a product specifically designed for slimming the face. However, it can be used to modelling facial proportions.

Depending on the anatomy of the face, the doctor may plan to inject the product into specific areas, such as the chin, cheeks or jawline. A subtle increase in volume in the right place can improve facial contours and make the face look more proportionate.

It is worth bearing in mind that the aim of contouring should not be to create entirely new features. The best result is one that preserves the face’s individual character whilst enhancing its proportions and outline.

Home remedies for slimming the face

Not every fuller oval face requires treatment. If the appearance of the face changes as body weight increases, a gradual reduction in weight may also affect facial features.

Everyday habits also play a role. Staying properly hydrated, limiting excessive salt intake, taking regular exercise and getting enough sleep can help reduce the factors that contribute to water retention and oedema.

Facial muscle exercises, known as facial yoga. They may affect muscle activity, but one should not expect them to burn fat locally adipose tissue. Nor is it possible to use exercise to target a specific area of the face from which the body will start to burn fat.

However, if the problem is a loss of firmness, excess body fat or a change in body contour linked to muscle activity, you may wish to consider appropriately selected facial treatments, comprising treatments aimed at improving facial contours, skin firmness and skin quality.

Facial slimming treatments

The method used during facial slimming should address the cause of the problem. A localised excess requires a different approach body fat, another more comprehensive one masseter muscles, and yet another has sagging skin.

Botulinum toxin for the masseter muscles

If a broad lower part of the face is associated with well-developed the masseter muscles, one might consider using botulinum toxin. The treatment temporarily reduces muscle activity, allowing their volume to gradually decrease. As a result, the lower part of the face may take on a slimmer appearance, and jawline become more pronounced.

The procedure is primarily used when the masseter muscles are indeed responsible for the excessively wide contour. It is therefore essential to carry out a proper assessment before performing it.

Injection lipolysis

In the event of a localised build-up body fat one might consider injection lipolysis. One of the areas where this method is used is the neighbourhood of chin. When administered to an area with excess fat tissue, the preparation triggers processes associated with the breakdown of fat cells. The body then gradually eliminates the by-products of this breakdown.

Injection lipolysis However, it is not a suitable solution for everyone with a fuller face. The decision to proceed depends on an assessment of the specific area and whether the patient is a suitable candidate for the procedure.

Treatments to improve skin tone

Sometimes a less defined oval shape is not due to excess body fat, but to a loss of skin firmness. In that case slimming the face contour It may, above all, result in improved firmness and more defined contours.

In the case of sagging skin, the main problem may be the loss of its former firmness. Reducing tissue volume may not necessarily be the right approach in such cases.

A better approach might be to focus on skin tension, its firmness and quality, in order to enhance the definition of the contours without unduly altering the face’s natural proportions.

How do you choose a facial slimming treatment?

Before choosing a method, it is worth determining exactly what factors influence the shape of the face. During the consultation, the specialist assesses, amongst other things, facial proportions, skin quality and tone, the distribution of body fat, and muscle structure and activity.

The patient’s expectations are also important. When it comes to the face, maintaining natural proportions is particularly important. The aim should not be to reduce volume as much as possible, but to achieve harmonious outline. This approach makes it possible to choose a method tailored to the actual cause of the problem and to minimise the risk of a result that does not match the natural features of the face.

A slimmer silhouette starts with the right diagnosis

Facial slimming It should not involve arbitrarily reducing the volume. A fuller oval shape can result from various causes – ranging from the arrangement body fat, from the structure and function of the masseter muscles right through to the quality and firmness of the skin. That is why effective facial contouring begins with a proper assessment of the face’s proportions.

At Wellclinic, during a consultation, we analyse facial structure, skin condition and the areas that affect the appearance of the face’s contours. On this basis, we can select the appropriate procedure – including a treatment aimed at masseter muscles, the reduction of localised body fat or the contouring of facial features.
